Analysis of Our Protector
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I lift my eyes unto the hills,
From where does my help go and hide;
An anticipation that instills,
To a good servant that abides.
For my help does come from the Lord,
The One who made Heaven and earth;
And I remain in one accord,
Because I know His priceless worth.
He will not let my foot be moved,
He who keeps you will not slumber;
My thoughts and prayers that I behooved,
For burdens that I encumber.
Because the Lord is your keeper,
He is your shade on your right hand;
Drying the tears of the weeper,
To soothe what this life would demand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor will the moon impact by night;
But keeping you on his pathway
Allowing to assist your sight.
The Lord will keep you from evil,
As He will keep watch of your life;
The means to avoid the devil,
Preserving your soul from the strife.
The Lord will keep your going out,
As well as of your coming in;
From this time forth without a doubt,
Forevermore to avoid sin.
