Analysis of "Wars, Rats and Spiders"

Linda dear... Oh Linda dear...
How the world came so near, Linda dear...
How the actual spokes of the Universe
almost burst before my eyes;
before your lies... before your college girl ties
brought you back to reality, Linda dear.
Somebody thought they heard it thru the grapevine
explode like a time bomb
running up and down the stairs with his hair on fire,
holding his pockets in his hands.
Popcorn, bubblegum and cotton candy
all in the park applauding the band,
while people in parkas seem afraid to understand.
'Why, what's happening? '
'Didn't you know? '

It's the GRAND OPENING!
Hatters mad as muffins march in rows
to see you, Linda dear.
Armies of writhing, thriving rats are working
day and night to touch you, Linda dear.
Thousands of hairy jestors are coming to watch you
dine with death.
All the gazebos of the world are turning in your honor.
Gazebos to you, Linda dear.
Gazeeeeeeebooooooos!

Wind flogs the rod-iron gate
and melancholy sags as it blows;
and the horseman returns as headless
as the direction in which he goes.
Everywhere, loneliness escapes into the night
as we crouch behind fire to eat our meat
as ancient as monkey balls.
Delirium breathes the Carnival fever
and Katatonia falls to the floor,
while cuckoo birds rest upon her lobes.
She's a mad woman, dressed in mad robes,
her blood spilled on the floor awaiting the execution.
'Is it time?' 'Is it time? '

It is time!
It is time entangled with tiny speckled spiders
sinisterly hanging from curly cue corners
spinning their web, spitting their why,
crawling forth to meet you, Linda pie...
just to say hello on your delicate spiny back;
in your flowing, ravenous hair;
sticking to your stockings, stalking your body bare.
So why do you stare, Linda dear?
Is there something to fear?

Linda dear... Oh, Linda dear...
How the world is now so foreign and new, Linda pooh...
How the warring world is now so far.

Come, we must be off to war;
and my burning brain is as mindless
as the locked gate outside my door.
