Analysis of STRANGLING VINES
Strangling vines growing
Up along tree trunks climbing
Toward the heavens.
Gradually they murder
Their host tree, but not until
Drawing life from it.
But on this strange world
Strangling vines also feed on,
Passing animals.
When a careless creature
Passes within their range,
Strangling vines reach out.
Squealing in terror
Unwary beasts are pulled in,
Toward the host tree.
Then dragging them upwards
The vines start devouring,
The mammals alive.
Then spitting out bones
The vines are satisfied,
At least for the present.
Verdant life forms thrive
On this deadly planet,
Eating passing humans.
Humans are wary
Of entering the woods
And only do so at night.
Humans or beasts
All aware of the danger,
Of nearing Strangling Vines.
