Forced into checking the weeks pay
homeless preparations, one week away
driven by necessity, penniless wise
spending idle time, paying that buys
control over your own survival, adds
simple overhead, or complex pads
hope in a system, corporations made
wages earned, and products we trade
fortunes, less fortunate, and wills
checking daily mail, and outgoing bills
hardships and ownership’s, buying and selling
compulsive counter top, advertising compelling
begging and egging, borrowing too
more of something used, rather than new
grocery carts, travelers city bound
nameless faces, lost all around
majority struggling, different patterns secure
bums with cardboard signs, passerby's blur
self made, others paid, some we just aid
keeping in touch, with, as little, as too much!
