Analysis of Room With A View

Silence echoes hallowed halls
There's bilge in the holy water
The psyche once castrated
Abandons it's abysmal daughter
She wasn't happy with the lot
She thought that we had bought her
And tossed the baby Jesus out
With the baptismal water

Come drop your burdens in the box
A panacea for your ills
We're trading in the Bread of Life
For candle smoke and pills
I wonder if I'm really dying
More or less than anyone else
The Son of Man is homeless
Roll the stone, see for yourself

The vultures have come home to roost
The jackals warm inside their dens
The Son of Man is homeless
All the crosses borne again

The choirboys are way off key
The frocks have lost their frills
The altar boys are seeing shrinks
Midnight masses pay the bills
The Priest is back all dressed in black
Go fidget with your beads
Blame it on the Devil
Say he caused your evil deeds

The Oscar Meyer Wiener Wagon*
Has replaced the Popemobile
Half a billion weenies rolling
Through the Seven Deadly Hills
The pastor almost choked to death
He's in the ICU
Swallowed half a camel leg
Straining gnats from camel stew

The vultures have come home to roost
The jackals warm inside their dens
The Son of Man is homeless
All the crosses borne again

Forget your daily rituals
Your vacuous ablutions
We sacrificed our Savior for
A ten-percent solution
But this Messiah ain't no cracker
He's just another little Jew
With a sacrificial offering
A free room with a view

The vultures have come home to roost
The jackals warm inside their dens
The Son of Man is homeless
All the crosses borne again
