Analysis of I Took the Road Less Traveled
Nazura Mohamad 1973 (Selangor)
I took the road less traveled,
Though the grasses grow tall and wild
And there might be tarantulas and poisonous snakes
Slithering through the bushes from the murky lakes
But I set my heart to follow the route
Though many had warned me the danger within
I saw old roots and wild plants brooding everywhere
As if unwilling to let me pass there
Yet I took the chance and moved first step
Learning I’ve walked more a mile after a while
Indeed, I knew I could not retreat
In finding and searching what I really need.
The road less traveled has indeed excites me
Though the ending may lead to such uncertainties
I may not reach the place where angels say ‘How do you do?”
Or I may be there finally much later than all of you
