Hi Chris, this one really was so enjoyable to read and for me the rhymes and rhythms really worked effectively to match the tale as you unfolded it. No mean feat with the meter as well.

On that note, a poet’s question if you’ll entertain the curiosity I have: did you set out to write it in that octameter or did the octameter call to you once you’d started composing the poem? As someone interested to think about how we compose poems and to what extent we do so in feeling/ instinct versus (not excluding) with careful plotting of our lines and verses. It depends perhaps!

Gaza, From Far Away evoked in me the most clearest and most original reaction of the month's submissions. It held a powerful comparison of two conflicts together in my mind without passing simple judgement, it seemed to speak poetically but from experience.
