We used to be one.

You tore mine off the bone,
fed it to rotting dogs & moaned.
Now it doesn’t matter which road—
Owen, Yadkin, Reilly, Bragg.

wide-eyed and wondering,
remembering what it felt like—
his kindness and warmth;
