The New river is neither a river or new
It rises far out of town when it was created to bring fresh water from the distant countryside
To Londoners rich or poor
Together they drank from the water brought from far and near

The garden of England is how they know kent
Where the sounds, tastes and colours are heaven sent
In early summer the roses and other flowers attract the eyes
It is hard to let the greens, browns and other colours of the fields go by
