Kent
KENT
The garden of England is how they know kent
Where the sounds, tastes and colours are heaven sent
In early summer the roses and other flowers attract the eyes
It is hard to let the greens, browns and other colours of the fields go by
The tastes of the strawberries, cherries and other berries are all magnificent
Welcome to the garden that we call kent
The sea comes up to the white cliffs of dover
Crashing up over, over and over
Elsewhere it just meanders through the marshes
Gently feeding the wildlife such as fish, insects and birds
Which for the senses to describe takes far too many words
You may live here or just be a vistor
Either way I am sure that you will appreciate that nature does not differentiate
Rich, poor or in between
Everyone is welcome in the garden
As long as you do not take things away
And leave for others to enjoy
You cover me over all around my girth
From daylight right down to the earth
Just leaving holes and fissures
For algae and other valuable things to grow
Feeding insects and birds
Which in turn
Attract bigger birds, mammals and even marsupials
All looking for food in this area
Humans only know this by having boards placed all around the park
They don’t even have a name for you
As I do my lovely Bark.
BARK
You cover me over all around my girth
From daylight right down to the earth
Just leaving holes and fissures
For algae and other valuable things to grow
Feeding insects and birds
Which in turn
Attract bigger birds, mammals and even marsupials
All looking for food in this area
Humans only know this by having boards placed all around the park
They don’t even have a name for you
As I do my lovely Bark.
