Fear being alone.

Lovecraftean fantasy?
Or dire, horrid truth?

Overwhelming fear:
Terror is ruling your life:
Too afraid to scream.

Cruel, evil spirits
Lurking in the old graveyards,
Ready to leap out.

Whirling images of
Faces and hands, in the dark night;
Closing in on you.

Through the dim-lit alleyways,
Late one winter night.

Too awful to contemplate,

Still fighting ancient battles,
Wars long won or lost.

A glance that petrifies;
Evil in her heart.

You long for daybreak,
Yet night-time marches on.
