What I Face When I Look In the Mirror
Alisha Galloway 2009 (CA)
When I look in the mirror as occasion does occurr,
I find that what I wish to see will never be there,
I see no second face to compliment mine,
I see likeness in my family that follows our design,
What I see when look is eyes too far apart,
The color I can not describe though horror it brings me,
Blue, Gray, Green and in the mix things stop making sense,
My family though has eyes that shine and I am in eclipse,
As for my nose, to describe, I'd have say it's blunt,
Not unusually large, but with a way of budding in,
Then my lips thin and pink, what purpose do they pose?
Upon a face not much made for show,
They sit there and dream,
Dream up things that when put to words,
become a melody,
Though eye brows thick I have,
They narrow quite often in my suspicion,
If it's a crime then let it be,
The rest of me is plain,
Hair without volume sits flat on my head,
My ears are pierced with a blue regret,
As for the rest you know of it now,
And this my quest for beauty in the mirror,
It has never shown, yet one day it may,
When that day comes in the mirror I will look,
But just for a moment, that's all I need.
