New Age of Manipulation [Noam Chomsky can start a new book]

Goodbye to the manufacturing of consent
so it seems, cause in the media nowadays
it’s apathy the powerful seek and amend
among the masses that block their scheming ways.
More information is spread due to the internet
but news seems no longer used to guide and set
the commoners minds in a particular direction;
there’s only predictable waves of rejection
of unfathomable ideas and plans that are tossed
above the heads of those that will be bossed
by indisputable structures that thrive at their cost.

Ludy Bührs

The topics she writes about are very diverse, so are the poetry styles she applies. As a Dutch translator and poet, having lived in Cambodia's capital city Phnom Penh for 2.5 years, in 2008 she published "Op de ruïnes van een rijk" (On the Ruins of an Empire) ISBN 978-90-8834-483-1 with 60 poems based on her experiences there. In 2007 she received a Certificate of Accomplishment as one of The Best Poems and Poets of 2007 issued by poetry.com and the International Library of Poetry for her poem Choked Truth, her own translation of "Verstikte waarheid", one of the poems in the book. Born in 1956, she still works as an independent translator, translating from English into Dutch. more…

    Amen to this poem exposing the manipulation of the Internet beyond even the imagination of Noam Chomsky. Perhaps after all he should reconsider his linguistic claim that the statement “Colorless green ideas sleep furiously “ while being syntactically correct is semantically meaningless, considering that it is ironically such ‘furiously sleeping’ (qua subliminal) ideas that are employed by the “upper class” to constantly undermine and suppress the “underclass.” P.S: Hope you and others get a chance to read my most recently composed poem, “The Thought That Lingers: Part Eight.”
