Mississippi Man

Maria Clavo 1958 (LA)

You make me smile every day
My eyes get wet with every word you say

I stayed happily in your life
Since you kept asking me to be your wife

It wasn't your money or great looks
Not even the food that I cooked

Over 30 years my heart is aching
My love for you, Im not faking

You stuck by my side like good men do
So why did you listen to what I told you

I love you most for trusting what I said,
When the doctor first rested Jeff's head

I feel the love you have for me.
My love for you everyone can see.

You went away because I said so
But you really didn't need to go

Now you're back talking all that stuff.
But will your talking be good enough?

When I say I miss you, I'm not lying.
So can we make it stick this time
