Worthless Gold

Gold sparkles,
Bright and true
That's what I thought
When I first saw you.

Gold is pretty on the outside;
A polished, defined stone.
And once the sun came up
I thought I saw how bright you shone.

But the sun went down again
Like it always, always will
And i lost your pretty reflection
As the world went silent and still.

Gold cant ever help
In that deepest, darkest hour...
Gold only shines when it is bright;
It's no foundation for a tower.
