What's Best

When you love someone so much
You just can't stand to not feel their touch
It drives you crazy and makes you feel real down
When you reach out to them and they're not around
When all you can do is wait with no choice
You continuously cry because you can't hear their voice
When they're all you've wanted in every way
It tears you up inside because you can't see them every day
Want to be with them forever, but as you wait you see
That everything you've ever talked about isn't the way it's turning out to be
Want to do what you know is best for you
You do the one thing you know you have to
Being with them makes you feel happy and glad
But living like this always makes you feel sad
Although their mistakes, you'll always remember them as that precious one
    you had!

Sherrie Benedict

I've always had big dreams of becoming a famous poet and writer and to be acknowledged for my work. I've been writing poetry since I was six and I am now 30. My published poem was written when I was 17. I'm a full time mother of three precious little girls all under the age of two. Writing gives me a sense of self and belonging and comes from the heart and fits in perfect with my busy days of mothering. All of my poems describes my life and experiences through struggling and my young days of being young and getting into trouble. Some describe how I felt about our world when writing them. They all describe different situations I've experienced throughout my life and how I felt and the ways to cope with each situation differently. I've always dreamed of one day each of my writings will help a lot of people out there that might be going through what I did or has gone through it before and help them also find a sense of belonging and the courage to get up each day and move on with their lives as happy individuals and walk the path as I do to this day. And that's to never ever give up hope on anything that might be going wrong in our lives because the more we learn from our mistakes and the more we set an example to keep going with our heads held high we become stronger and so does our younger generation. And in hopes that one day our world will be full of happiness and kindness and we all become one! I pray my poetry touches the lives of many individuals as possible to help them to keep on believing in themselves and our children and believe we can be happy and at peace and we will love that day when we grow old and can look back on all of our wrongs and smile at the fact because we never gave up hope we have more rights at that time then wrongs. We can and will all be proud individuals and proud of our kids if we just stick to believing we can and we will instead of we can't and won't. Trust me, I was that girl! more…
