Trails

Sweet blue sky fills the day
with wonder
walking in the sunshine
taking time to ponder
the metal tracks beside me
begin to hum and hiss
I stare at them wonder
from where the rails
shall feel the metal kiss
I look a little further
and an engine sounds alarm
Where is it going,who's inside
& I wish safe journey without harm
Returning to the quiet,
a canary sits atop the rails
The heaviest and the lightest
travel the same trails
