Time

In the constant crowd of thoughts and events
life in a hurry keeps passing us by,
and we sometimes return to dreams,
although the time for their fulfillment has passed. . . .

We are strong; so how come
so unstoppable is the constant flow of time,
and we, those of the twentieth century,
are embraced by the next one's entry?

Into our eyes technology constantly flashes,
blinding us with its cold, snow-like brightness;
in time's night like fugitives we wander
exposed for God's game.

Problems constantly unsolved,
the speed of time constantly too quick,
as we bear into the next century,
our father's estates and our own testaments.
