The Funeral Girl

She's my little funeral girl,
dressed in black.
I'll never have her,
Never hold her,
yet still the waves crash
and enfold her.
So I settle with these photos,
dried dark flowers
and delicate
origami,
and bend to the page
to write another verse
again for my funeral girl,
my distant friend.
