Self Medicating

Self medicating.
Poetry is my vice, the medium I choose.
A concise confession of my confused contention.
An agitated disturbance which screams to devour.

My demeanor may seem content on the surface,
however my conclusions are heavy.

And when my writing can express that which my
body provokes, my commotion is silenced. Hence
my body and mind stop fighting.

For that which is bottled up inside me will eventually
boil over and influence the voices within me.

So while my words will vibrate a cord inside you,
causing a familiar melody or an oblivious noise.
They do help me project, releasing the tension
that’s been eating me recently.

For these thoughts expressed are my drugs of choice.
I can wright my own prescription.
If I can just shut up and listen.

Alternate Ending

For these thoughts expressed are my drugs of choice.
So while I wright my own prescription,
won’t you just shut up and listen.
