In the Dead of Night

Last night, while you were
In the arms of Morpheus, I sat
On your bedside wondering
Why I always find it so hard--
To drive the night away.

I don't know why I love looking
At you, when doing so, I would
Scorch to smoke--hovering
Like cloud in the sky--wanting
To fall like rain--in the dead of night.

Do I love looking at you,
Because you are a beauty to behold?
Are you a dream, come true?

Reality is where we are, but we are
Still there...where once we were
Dreamers of the dream that is--now
Why I have your hand to hold
Like this life I own--
In this moment of time--fleeting.

Almighty God, how soon the rain?
