Dusk Till Dawn
A retiring sun
Settles slowly on the horizon,
The earth softly glowing
From its dimming light.
The landscape
Gradually changes,
As long shadows shrink
And disappear.
A large desert cactus
Stands against the sky,
Its rugged beauty silhouetted
By the fading light.
Then as twilight falls
Darkness reins over,
And all is still, as an eerie silence
Gives way to the sounds of the night.
The moon
Peers over the mountains,
Throwing its soft light
Over the prairie.
Rising gently, it subtly scatters moonbeams
Over hills and valleys,
Illuminating the landscape
With a silvery hue.
A shooting star crosses the sky
Adding beauty to the night,
And as the earth turns and the moon fades
The sun once again lights a new dawn.
