Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's Disease

Mental degeneration
 in the nervous system
 is Alzheimer's ablation
 striking "creme de la creme."

Dysfunctional synapses
 misfiring in the brain
 cause major memory lapses
 by baneful "coup de main."

Insidious mutations
 create a double bind:
 live with the aberrations
 and slowly "lose your mind."

Personality changes
 in disposition mien
 progressively estranges
 kindly "metteur en scene."

A gradual receding,
 before their very eyes,
 loved ones are left repeating
 their sad, lost, "long good-byes."
