Running

alicia shinall 2007 (cartersville)

Running away... I’d be, often…
away from what I couldn't face
or shouldn't know, time and again
though some things time would not erase...
the emptiness, aloneness, pain.

I seemed so carefree often when
on track or football field I'd chase
opponents down... where I had fun
running away.

The 60's was a grand Amen
in church for me, where I'd embrace
a future ministry, to gain
perspective, by God's wondrous grace
forgiving grief from which I'd been
running away.
