My First True Love

Donna J Shea 1948 (Baltimore)

As I sit here all by myself, And                                                             stare out at the trees, I think of
all the fun we had, Together you
and me.

Of course we had our ups and
downs, as other people do, But I
knew that things would be okay, And
I'd spend my life with you.

And then one day, I don't know why,
We drifted far apart, I never could
forget you, For you stayed within
my heart.

I watched you marry someone , else
and wondered where we would be,
If I hadn't walked out of your life
And finally set you free.

We will never find the answer, For
God has taken you away, But I will
always have the Love for you, and
we will meet again one day.
