Miracle of Grace

Young woman in labour,
empty streets, no room in inns,
yonder-- cave, oxen and hay,
 as if silently waiting,  mother and babe.

One lone star over the night,
shepherds keep watch,  Wisemen depart
-- prophecy in sight--
angels announce birth of a King
born this night.  No royal might,
swaddling clothes, meekness wrapped.

Gift of love, miracle of grace,
let peace and love be welcomed in,
anew-- by grace-- illumine within.

    Oh so poetically sweet this Yuletide advent poem welcoming the joyful birth of the Christ child with effective rhythmic emphasis of such words as ‘night’, ‘sight’ and ‘might’ to highlight this special babe as humanity’s light.
