Un jour d'hiver

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Arqué haut sur les monts et d'un bleu sans nuages
Qu'un triomphant soleil embrase éblouissant,
Le ciel, par la vallée où la chaleur descend,
Anime, en plein hiver, la mort des paysages.

Il semble qu'ici, là, la mouche revoltige,
Tourne dans la poussière ardente du rayon ;
On va voir le martin-pêcheur, le papillon,
L'un raser le ruisseau, l'autre effleurer la tige !

Le ravin clair bénit l'horizon rallumé ;
Du branchage et du tronc l'arbre désembrumé
Contemple, radieux, le luisant de la pierre.

Et, dans l'espace, au loin, partout, les yeux surpris
Ont la sensation d'un été chauve et gris
Dont la stérilité rirait à la lumière.
