Flamingos on the Moonlit Tightrope of Dissent

a life laid down like a
gauntlet and they call him
idealistic ignorant,
as if the weight of his
conviction was a flaw.

but what if the majority
stayed silent and still
long enough to hear
the whispers of their own

hearts beating in time
with the rhythm of the earth,
would they too lay down
their arms and their pride?

About this poem

This poem is a commentary on the way society views and treats individuals who stand up for their convictions, even if it means going against the majority.
