BLEND OF OLD WINES

I have fallen for you
On this cheerless path
To our last bell

Aged and aged
We brace ourselves
Slowed by memories
And the prospects
Of barren tomorrow

On same stream
Seagulls swim
Singing familiar songs
Of when love was fire
And anger of waves

A blend of new wines
Is a darling on tongue
But the heat in their
Hearts could start a fire
To consume the lot
Of their whole essence
But a blend of old wines
Soured slap on tongue
Goes on and on
Wind that walks the day
Along the milky path

We are what we are
Old fibres and bones
Watching life roll by
On our last journey
To dust and ashes

You have fallen for me
On this cheerless path
To our last bell
And the whispers
In our hearts bond us
Than old songs
Faded into faded
Seasons gone by
