Women Who Fear the LORD
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Strength and dignity that she wears,
And laughs at the time to arrive;
Her compassion shows that she cares,
Helping others to be alive.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
Teaches of kindness with her tongue;
Keeps busy to combat boredom,
Her actions are never far-flung.
She looks very well to the ways,
Eats not the bread of idleness;
For her household, constantly prays,
Holds no grudges or bitterness.
Her children rise, call her as blest,
Her husband also gives her praise;
She does everything at her best,
For God, she abides and obeys.
Most daughters do virtuously,
But she is surpassing them all;
But she does assiduously,
Her Adam does not take a fall.
For favor can be deceitful,
While beauty has become vain;
Beguiling charm can be sinful,
In causing a seductive stain.
Let her deeds praise her in the gates,
Giving her the fruit of her hands;
Patience comes to the one that waits,
When abiding by God’s commands.
