FROM A DREAM

Nwafor Oji Awala

Free verse
I sprang from
Massless whirl
Of a dream,
Amassed form,
A tiny body beyond
Naked eyes,
Saviour of ova
From another
Periodic waste

I am the goat
Who gored agape
The unmentioned
Entrails of a leopard

I'm the conqueror
But a reality from
The soft mud
Of the beginning

I was a dream
But now the head
In gilded crown
