Lust Infernal, Love Eternal

It’s manifest destiny that frightens me most. Not the specter of death or any chain-wielding ghost.

When the flames subside and we close what was open wide, I turn to myself to look inside. Desolate and dry, I want you so badly I’m on fire, my loins and my mind.

Moment to moment just won’t suffice. I can’t bring myself to lie to you, let’s make a round the Maypole, run off to play in the meadow. Laugh at our reflection in the others eyes.

As I watch you grow older, say I love you and age itself we defy. I take you like a lion, taking you deep with my pride, I am completely consumed, you’re love for me cannot be denied.

I pledge eternity to us as a bush glows on the mountainside, cling to me and one day the comets tail we’ll ride. Make love under the sun, never forget the value in being young. Growing old and doing it by having fun.

Pacts of love our holy grail, if I fall who will carry me home. If I burn, who will dress my wounds. But that’s not what it’s about. I’ll take my time, bottoms up it’s our turn to fly, open the gates and let us out. To this fake reality we both wave goodbye...

Numi

"Numi" is the pen-name I adopted in 2007 after a friend gifted me a copy of The Essential Rumi; by Coleman Barks. After reading some of my works, it was suggested that it reminded them of the works by Rumi. In no way do I align myself with this Great Master Poet, but I do feel a deep connection to his poetry, and the book of Essentials was my constant companion during a 5 year saga, where I was stranded in the Amazon Jungle of Peru, from 2010-2015. Everything in my collections were written during a 4 year period, 1999-2003. more…
