Yearning For The Wild Winds

Today 3 Years Ago:

A strong phrase that lives with me as well as my own poem that I've been writing over these past few years is as follows...

You only leave home when home won't let you stay,
A restless heart that longs for distant shores,
The pull of adventure, the thrill of the fray,
Calls out to you, and you cannot resist.

Your home, once a sanctuary, now a cage,
A prison of routines and mundane days,
You yearn for freedom, for a life on the page,
Where every moment is a chance to amaze.

The wind whispers secrets of far-off lands,
Of cultures and peoples, of joys and strife,
And you, a wanderer, with a heart that stands,
Ready to take on life with all its might.

You only leave home when home won't let you stay,
To chase your dreams, to make your own way,
For the call of the unknown is too strong to stay,
And the world, with all its wonder, awaits your sway.

A tale of woe and heartache, a story of strife,
Of a homeland that's lost, and a future in life.
Forced to leave the place you call home,
Where memories of joy and love are sewn.

The streets that once held laughter and glee,
Now echo with tears and misery.
The thought of leaving, a heavy heart bears,
As the dreams of tomorrow bring only fears.

The UK, a land of hope and promise,
A place where dreams can be rearranged.
But the journey is long, and the road is tough,
Leaving behind all that's familiar, enough.

The weight of the world on your shoulders,
The burden of a new life to shoulder.
The uncertainty of a future unknown,
The fear of failure, the fear of being thrown.

But still you push on, with courage in your heart,
For the hope of a better life, a brand new start.
The thought of a brighter future, a ray of light,
Drives you forward, through the darkest of night.

So you leave home, with tears in your eyes,
And the hope of a better life, in the skies.
For though it's hard, and the road is long,
You know that in the end, you'll be strong.

About this poem

I'm struggling quite a bit with dealing with my personal battles/emotions and it's souk destroying! I find myself avoiding everyone and everything. It's nothing personal towards my family and what's sadly left of me friend circle. So over the time of me being in the UK, I'd find myself struggling to deal with things and resolve my problems or worries. So I thought of writing little bits and pieces of this poem and my thought process, which I've personally battled with myself to build 'adequate' enough confidence to post on Facebook. I thought I'd write a few words of feelings/experiences down as I've gone through this beautiful journey of emotions. It's helped me understand what I'd actually be going through.
