She

Deborah Lee 1958 (Manchester)

She .
She knew what to do .
Beyond the cosiness of her childhood.
Always attentive , sensitive .
The line was drawn with a thick pencil .
All she had to do was keep on it .
Wavering with a bottle or two .
Sleep coming and darkness behind her eyes .
The beautiful wind would lift her into the blue .
Maybe a  dog walker would find her .
Smeared with seaweed .
Polished by sand her purity shone .
Arms at her side
Waiting .

About this poem

When a person is determined to end their life we are left in pain . The guilt associated with not being able to see their sadness can be overwhelming .
