HARDWORKING HANDS
In this world filled with challenges
where dreams take flight,
These hands weathered by sweat and Strain
to their plight.
Maybe the palms showing the future bright?
Understand but to act at a time right;
The last leaf falling to the Autumn
without a fight?
They push forward with unwavering strength
Brave indeed together on the bench.
And then obstacles may come and go,
The fruits of their harvest a secret vow.
A stepping stone on the path to pretend,
Hand in a handshake left to comprehend?
Their resolve burning with unyielding fire,
With each setback they rise higher.
Rising above gaining success in nature’s retreat,
Throughout the rough patches that greet.
They stand tall as a testament of power,
One hand making batter and the other pouring water.
But it is not victory that defines their worth,
Hardworking hands leave behind a treasure untold.
And refuse to surrender in the walks of life,
A good hand raising five fingers that strive.
It is not about the rewards they obtain,
But the journey of the hardworking hands that retain.
They inspire us to work without fear,
Fight a battle without hesitation and persevere.
For in each endeavor is a chance closer to victory,
Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges and Battling Boulders strictly.
Let us celebrate the hardworking hands that we see
That dare not rise against mutiny.
Ten to the thousand turning destiny?
They evoke a feeling of discipline and grace,
Leaving an imprint that time cannot erase.
For in the realm of hardwork this is not the end,
Just imagine if there were no hands to attend?
And the day will come when the battle is won,
Can hands be taken for granted is my question?
The boon bur lies in the lessons learned!
About this poem
Hardworking Hands is a poem which is the result of inspiration derived from watching the famous blockbuster Hindi movie "SHOLAY".In the opening scene where Sanjeev Kapoor refuses to help the hired convicts to lift the rifle since he is handicapped. The readers don't guess the reason creating the element of surprise. This sparks in us a feeling that hands are not granted. The entire poem has one line in isolation--"let us celebrate the hardworking hands that we see"--which clearly describes the need of the hour which are but the hands. more »
