Dance in Her Life

"One day, she was no longer young…"
"One day, she was no longer young…"
"One day, she was no longer young…"
She let strangers draw on her legs
Her arms
Her face
In clutch they came
Was ink, was life, was fate
For her to be with one of them
"One day…
She will follow a flag
to the same fate as mine."
Roses and lions and stars
Sewn into the arms
Of her protector.
The ink faded, her skin wrinkled
But she yearned that
One day, she would dance with it
Together, joined back together
One day…
"You will look into the faces of passers by,
hoping for something that will,
for an instant,
bring me back to you…"

Her worn, old skin
"I’ve known you,
all my life…"
Was ink.

Her lover
"I love you
And I believe you love me…"
Was life.

All that brought her to here,

"This place
The time…"

Was fate.

About this poem

About moving through life and no longer remaining young. I wrote this poem because I was bored, but I became deeply interested in this poem.
