Brother

I miss you.
Funny how it's not distance keeping us apart,
You live in the room outside mine.
But there's no conversation to start.
I remember too much,
But I'm not even mad.
I guess this silence is just a habit,
Ends up making me sad.
I just want to talk you,
But what would I even say?
I don't know where to start,
There's no script for this play.
The show has been over;
None of us have any more lines.
And I'm no longer living
The days of that time.
But they're etched in deep,
Like a carving in wood,
Still, I'd scrap this whole pattern
If only I could
Now my heart is thrumming
Painful and deep
I miss that familiar song
That we all used to keep.
If I could do it over again,
What I thought was so "right,"
Then maybe I wouldn't be writing
The words I am tonight.
