Wishes

For the longest time I wished you would wake up
I wished you would sober up
I wished you would be the mother I wanted
And I thought about that wish quite often
Every time I heard you had gotten clean
A part of me wished you'd come to see
The man that I had grown to be
Though, another part was scared to see
How long it'd take for you to leave
I didn't know if I could take
All the hurt and all the pain
After all this time I have forgiven
But I will not ever forget
All the times I wished and dreamed
That you would go get yourself clean
And now you're here I hope to stay
Cause it would not be okay
For you to hurt the others
Like you hurt me
So I truly hope you stay clean
