DARE NOT
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
DARE NOT!
Dare you stand before His Throne
Taking a self-righteous, judgmental tone?
What have I done that you can call wrong?
God is my Judge, to Him I belong!
My life is God's and mine!
What I do isn't for you to define
God knows the reason of my heart
How dare you come and tear me apart!
If my deeds are sin, let God decide!
He knows my heart, I've never defied!
I stand condemned in YOUR eyes,
But to Christ alone my heart cries
Take your condemnations to heart
Listen to yourself before you start!
Taking Grace to a room of Stone Laws!
When has the Law been the sole cause?
Blame for all I've done wrong
Is on me, where it belongs
But Grace comes from God alone
And you, my friend, ain't reached that Throne!
So don't you dare condemn me
If you don't happen to agree!
Let God judge between us
Leave the verdict to Jesus!
Perfection I'll never be
Sin can still darken me
But the Cross is still strong
I'm His Grace I belong
You called me your dear friend
In one act will it end?
Am I less Saved than you
Because you dislike what I do?
Tell me, in your judgement where is Christ above?
Where lies His Grace? Why hide His Love?
What is right in the pain you cause?
Instead of Grace, you throw Stone Laws!
Dare not judge me, or God you'll face
For I stand here in His Grace
Law kills, but Grace forgives
I'm forgiven, because Jesus lives
AMEN
About this poem
I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. I Corinthians 4 3-4
