IT SUCKS GETTING OLD

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Here I sit, almost 50, waiting for prune juice and a rocking chair. I do not want my family putting me in a damn nursing home with others like me with fading tattoos playing a game of guessing what it was and pulling each other fingers to see if we can hear.

Could you give me my pen and paper? I want to write some poetry. I want to listen to my grateful dead and the hidden messages in every song they sang. Will I hear the doorbell ring? Will I understand the next big thing?

It sucks getting old, so I was told when I was young, I had to bite my tongue on my mother's birthday listening to her tell me you will be my age someday.

I was hoping you could give me my whiskey, roll me a bone, let me get stoned. I want my senior discount where is my AARP card when I take a shit without a diaper I want to be able to say I had a bowel movement even if it came out like cement it sucks getting old
