Leap of Faith
Come in and feel the positive vibes
The writing is all over its walls
No groupthink and no dividing tribes
Just love and joy where the Lord's provision falls
Whatever you're feeling, do not be afraid
There is transformation power beyond these gates
When you think there's no turning back from the mess you have made
There's contrary evidence through the door that awaits
Enter at your own risk if you will
Because you might actually change for the better
Lay the burdensome chaos off to the side and try to remain still
As a servant appears from what once was this selfish debtor
Join the movement if you haven't yet given up
There is hope and promise in surrendering your pride
It's free to indulge and drink from this cup
Just be ready to experience God when you get on this ride
Open the door and see what there is to consume
You may be surprised by how good it will taste
Or turn your back and in destruction resume
Never quite reaching the high that you have so urgently chased
Sit yourself down and settle your nerves
In this chair where the Lord has you now seated
You will begin to see clearly ahead as you emerge from the curves
That here lies the change that you have desperately needed
Be open to learning and the testing of your fruit
As the ground around you need some serious tilling
There is certain to be some pain as things begin to necessarily uproot
Yet there is opportunity for life changing growth if the spirit is willing
It seems like a pretty simple decision
Because what have you really got to lose
Continue to crumble in your house of shame and division
Or take this opportunity to turn things around and no longer refuse
You can continue to run forever
But your feet are bound to grow tired
Or begin to see the writing on the wall, as it's now or never
Before the patience of everyone around you is forever expired
Take this leap of faith before the damage is too great
Even if you're not quite sure how you're going to land
Or continue the disastrous path until it grows too late
And you're too broken to care and too beaten to even stand
About this poem
It's about making a decision to change the course of life when you are spiraling out of control in some aspect of it. The leap of faith can be anything that involves confronting your own negative behavior when the prospect of change looks so daunting. Sometimes you have to make that jump to save your life!
