If only I’d known
If only I'd known the secrets
That life holds close,
I’d have narrowed my path more wisely,
Avoiding fake friends, and disasters.
If only I'd known the power
Of dreams and daring to believe,
I'd have gone past every limit,
With courage, passion, and bravery.
If only I'd known the essence
Of patience, gentle as a breeze,
Then maybe I would have been
More patient with myself
If only I'd known the magic
Of love, passing time and space,
I'd have loved each precious moment,
In its embrace.
If only I'd known the wisdom
Of my grandma, standing tall,
She has risen from every stumble,
Unyielding, refusing to fall.
If only I'd known the beauty
Of forgiveness, understanding and kindness,
I'd have showed compassion's grace,
And left bitterness far behind.
If only I'd known the meaning
Of empathy, profound and limitless,
I'd have understood others deeply,
Creating bonds that forever last.
If only I'd known the stories
Of those who walked this Earth before me,
I'd have learned from their mistakes and trials,
Wisdom echoed from times to times.
If only I'd known the treasures
Of gratitude, unbounded and true,
I'd have counted each blessing with great respect,
In all that I've had, all that I knew.
But with all the "if only's,"
Regrets cannot change what has been done,
For every experience, both joyful and tough,
Has shaped me, made me whole.
For if only I'd known life is but a whisper,
A hint of the vast mysteries to unravel,
And in the pursuit of knowledge and growth,
I'll find the answers I truly need.
