Unwanted Valentines

Your heart is broken, so is mine;
we’re two unwanted valentines.
Let’s see how our lives combine,
and what our fractured hearts design.

I’m a piece of the puzzle that won’t fit in,
I’m an out-of-tune song no one will sing,
a corroded old bell no one will ring,
a crow abandoned with a broken wing.

And I can see you wandering too,
I’m solitary... just like you.
Let’s see what two old souls can do;
Tooth and nail, we’ll make it through.

A tiny shard for every ache,
let’s craft a radiant new mosaic.
We’ll pick the bricks from each heartbreak,
and build a home no one can shake.

Come hide under my broken wing,
I'll soothe your heart from every sting.
Our tears will make the graveyard sing,
and turn our winter into spring.

And while the stars may not align,
let’s see how our souls entwine.
I’ll be yours and you’ll be mine;
like two unwanted valentines.

Let’s see how our lives combine,
and what our shattered hearts design.
I’ll be yours and you’ll be mine;
We’re two unwanted valentines.
