I Knew, It Won't Be Easy

I knew, it won't be easy,
the clock ticking away seconds.
The wind scattered the ruins,
day after day, time steadily reckons.

I walked boldly through the town,
like a warrior, head held high.
Though in my heart there's no fiesta,
New Year's approaching, fireworks in the sky.

Day sweeps away another day,
like a tree, I stand so tall.
Shedding leaves one by one,
weary from the pains, after all.
