Society, do something for me.
No matter what I do I'll always be treated differently,
My cries for help remain in the dark and vain.
I ask others,
"What can I do to change?"
Yet the answer is always the same.
"Change your style, change your looks. Be like the others, Give yourself to society."
But what if I don't wanna do that?
What if I wanna be me?
It's either to be hated by society or be one with society,
There's no inbetween.
Why must society be so cruel? So judgemental?
Is my style so appalling to them?
So horrid?
So disgusting?
I'm sorry for being myself, I'm sorry for expressing myself.
Maybe they were right, Maybe I should just change.
It's my happiness or theirs,
The choice is yet so bizzare.
Nobody should have to pick.
I'm sorry for being the person I am.
I'm sorry for being different.
I'm sorry for not being like you.
I'm sorry for being the way I am.
Maybe I'll do better next time.
The days go on and on,
I try to be better.
I try to fit in.
Yet nothing makes them happy, Everything I do is ignored.
My efforts, The changes I made, They pay no attention.
Instead I'm made fun of more,
For attention seeking they say,
For trying to fit in.
They think lower of me now,
Would it have been better if I stayed the same?
Or would it have gotten worse?
"Suck it up" they say, my emotions being ignored again and again, maybe I should suck it up. Maybe I'm being a wimp.
"Just make it to friday." Is what I tell myself, week after week.
The cycle continues.
Tomorrow is another day.
