THE LIGHTHOUSE




The Lighthouse stands Alone, / on its Jetty of Solitude –
An Anchor & a Tether, / to its Children Lost at Sea;
A Beacon of Remembrance, / no matter how Dim in Magnitude –
Its only Comfort or Consolation, / Shrouded in Mists of Memory.

Surrounded by Reminders, / of Precious Moments Slowly Eroding –
The Flotsam & the Jetsam / of Shattered Hopes & Broken Dreams;
It Maintains its Lonely Vigilance, / with Trepidation & Foreboding –
Always Watching for Distress Signals, / & the Sound of Distant Screams.

Whenever some Memorabilia / washes up upon its Shoals –
The Lighthouse Casts its Beam, / Searching for Signs of Life;
With Waves Crashing on the Shoreline, / the Tide Pitches & Rolls –
For the Lighthouse & the Sea / are Husband & Wife.

The Sea Carries her Offspring, / to many Distant & Different Lands –
Some Forever Seeking Answers, / some never to Return;
The Lighthouse Never leaves its Post, / Oblivious to her Demands –
For as long as there is Darkness, / his Guiding Light will Ever Burn.

The Lighthouse must not Waver, / in its Purpose or Devotion –
Its only Desire, to see his Children, / Safely Home Again;
His Love reaches the Most Distant Horizon, / & Spans the Vastest Oceans –
But the Waves only Remind him, / that Destiny is not his Friend.
