Life’s struggles
Life’s struggles 1991 (California)
In the depths of my despair, at merely ten years old,
The devil came creeping, his wicked plan unfold.
He tried to seize my soul, with darkness in his eyes,
And made me think that meth was where my salvation lies.
My mom and dad were taken, leaving me alone,
Running frightened through the streets, with no place to call my own.
I slept on cold, hard pavement, with no clothes to keep me warm,
Fighting demons within, trapped in a raging storm.
Silent tears would cascade, as I prayed for God to see,
To whisk me far away, to a world where worries flee,
A place of warmth and safety, where love could find me true,
A sanctuary for my heart, where dreams could all come true.
No more hurt, no more touch, just respect and love so pure,
Oh, how I yearned for someone who'd cherish and endure.
Being an only child, a protector I lacked,
Facing grown men's advances, my innocence under attack.
But from within me, strength emerged, a warrior born that day,
I fought with fire in my soul, as darkness held at bay.
I rose above the turmoil, found courage to break free,
No longer just a lost child, I became everything I dreamed I'd be.
So now I stand here, scars upon my soul, but oh so strong,
A survivor of the darkest nights, where hope had seemed so long gone.
I'll forever hold within me, the innocence that's mine,
And cherish the love that now surrounds me, a beacon that will shine.
