Blind Devotion
They dance and dance and dance,
Round and round and round again,
Flowery hair and flowery dress
Together singing a hymn
“Love and freedom for all!”
Failing to see the flames around them
They dance and dance and dance,
Round and round and round again,
Flags in hand together they say
“None above another, all are equal men!”
Failing to see who molded their clay
They dance, and they dance, and they dance again.
And again,
Smoke whispers through the flames
“You are oppressed! Just like us!”
But they do not see,
Those blind devotees,
Their houses burned by the invisible flames.
About this poem
I felt inspired to write this poem after observing the way most of us tend to live our lives and the issues there in. This poem is a sort of reflection of how I as a Christian view the largely secular world.
