The Train of Tears

Around two million stood outside
The RFK death train
In 1968 beside
The tracks with hope in vain.

They stood on both sides of the track
Saluting, waving, tears,
Hands on their hearts; there was no lack
Of sadness and some fears.

Both young and old, the rich and poor
As well as black and white,
Were grieved he could do nothing more
To ease their daily plight!

The train of Robert Kennedy
Took him to Arlington,
Where he would spend eternity.
His work had just work begun.
