The Woman With Frogs In Her Ears

I once knew a woman with frogs in her ears
When people would talk, she just couldn't hear.
I asked for her story, she said "I'll tell you, my dear."

"I was swimming in a pond not far from here
When suddenly a sound began to draw near

ribbitt

RIbbitt

RIBBIT

Then wouldn't you know, two frogs did appear

And promptly they hopped, one into each ear

When flies would buzz near

Great tongues would appear

From the sides of my head, you could see it quite clear

The frogs grew too big, oh dear oh dear

And now they are stuck, one frog in each ear."

About this poem

This is a poem inspired by a story I used to tell to my first grade class. They wanted to know why I always asked them to speak up in class and I told them it was because I had frogs in my ears. From there, the story evolved. I hope it makes you smile, like it did them.
